Will it fit...

Has anyone with a estate ever managed to get an 8x4 plasterboard sheet in the boot with the seats down? I've not got to go far or fast so it doesn't really matter if i need to lay it diagonally rather than flat on the floor.

Thanks

The load bed in the estate is heading for 2 m (6.5 ft) long (Not dimensioned though) and the load space is 1.1 m (3.3 ft) wide, so I wouldn't be confident you'll get the length in and close the boot, but you have a decent chance of getting it into the car diagonally with the boot open. Dimensions are at the end of this document: http://www.ryanmotorpower.com/imglib/ryanmotorpower/file/Superb%20Brochure.pdf

Yeah, that's what I thought, only got 2 miles to go from B&Q to the house.

Bring towels/blankets to stop it taking chunks out of the interior though...

If you don't need quite the full sheet cut it roughly to size in B&Q carpark maybe?

+1 on the dust sheets (visions of zebra skin seats, not good!)

Drifters? (Up on the roof)

might try and fashion a bit of a roof rack out of some timber battens and stick it up top instead. don't mind driving cautiously with the boot lid tied down but the idea of spending hours cleaning off white plaster dust off the interior doesn't float my boat.

On the roof is better - unless it's raining a lot :p...

I love seeing people driving with oversize items on their roof.

It makes me chuckle. Sofas are the best!!

I would be really impressed if it for in the boot.

For the sake of keeping the black interior black I'm probably not going to bother trying. Got lots of timber battens in the garage so will easily manage to knock up something for the roof bars.

If you do decide to try the boot my only offer of advice would be to take someone with you to help with loading and unloading.

I moved a sheet of MDF in my twindoor. I had help lifting it in but at the other end I was on my own. I had to pull it out of the boot the best I could, but on doing so as the shet slid over the rubber boot seals the sharp edges cut slices out of the seal.

I felt a bit of a plonker afterwards.

I put my roof bars through my rear lights.

I had just taken them off my 3 year old, "give them to me before your break something, they are far too heavy for you!!"

I took them and put them straight through!!! It was a real you've bed framed moment, no £250 though.

I felt like a bit of a plonker!!

I let my 3 year old put them on and off the car now, it's safer!!
