Roomster 2 (57 plate) DSG 09g issues

Has anyone else got problems with the 09g auto gear box, ours has started 'bumping' into lower gears or alternatively revving i.e. not changing up. Took it to a local transmission place who said it was a 'common fault' with DSG 09g gear boxes and would cost  thousands -reckoned about 3000 to replace. The car has only done 35000 miles and is great in all other respects. I cannot afford to get the repairs so, can you offer guidance of replacement that doesn't have an 09G box in it as I wouldn't trust one again.

It may be worth a call to another transmission specialist.  This isn't a DSG gearbox, it's a torque converter type albeit it an "advanced" one, but it might be possible to repair/rebuild it.  Have you discussed that with your transmission man?

As Manatee says, it is not a DSG, it what they called Tiptronic . I've had 07 and 09 Roomster Autos, and never had a problem with them in thousands of miles. If the place you spoke to think it's a DSG It doesn't bode well, I would certainly go elsewhere, I don't think there were any 'common' faults with them as far as I know, old technology certainly but nothing wrong with that ! Worth shopping around I think.
