Hi all. Posted this on the seat forums but didn't get very far - since all the mk4 platform cars are fairly similar thought someone here might know?

My wife's indicators have stopped working entirely with no notice - seat leon 03 plate. Hazards still work fine and the fuse is checked and not at fault.

Have just swapped out the relay under the hazard switch for a brand new item from a stealers and no change - still no indicators. Have taken out the various relays under the dash, contact cleaner and reconnected. No change.

I'm starting to think the stalk is possibly at fault, but it still operates fine for full beam headlights - no problem with those on the same stalk at all just the indicators? Is there anything I can do to confirm if stalk is at fault? Tried a good spray of wd40 with no change and I'm a little reluctant to start messing with the airbag and steering column on the off chance... Thanks in advance!

You could try using a proper electrical contact cleaner instead of Water Dispersant formula 40.

also you could try using a meter -on the lamp(s)  a reading of 12-13Volts will show if it's working even if it won't carry a load(bulb)   then work back

Amusing anecdote for you. Started out by changing the hazard warning relay, no dice. Checked all the relays, no dice. Went playing around with my old meter, no dice. Changed indicator stalk after all. No dice.

Swore a lot.

Pulled the whole dash apart looking for loose connections, unpicking connectors and cleaning them and reconnecting. No dice. Swore some more.

Figured I was missing something obvious. Went back to the indicator relay I'd changed at the start, unplugged it, wiggled it about, plugged it in again, still no dice. Decided to try the original one again... Low and behold the indicators are now working again.

Reason being? I'd got the new one on my lap, removed the old one and put it on my lap, then in my haste put the old one back in again. So yeah I feel like a prat but it's all fine once more- moral of the story is pay a bit more attention and don't overlook the obvious stuff!!
