Hi, I am looking to do a oil & filter change on my fabia vrs and wanted to know is the filter a simple unscrew off and simply screw new one on?

Yes, it is, open the bonnet and it is on your left hand side close to the bumper, can't miss it .

I'd recommend using an oil filter removal tool, different types available to choose from, just get the diameter right.
