ecp light on dash

Featured Replies

hi can any one help I hv a 1.4 fabia oand I hv no back lights but the ecp light is on my dash board can anyone help me I dunno wot 2 do and dunno wot ecp light means thanks

It's the EPC light, Electronic Power Control.  It's likely that an implausible signal from the brake light switch has caused the light to come which can be due to a faulty switch or two blown outer brake light bulbs.  Check your brake lights and if they all work or none work replace the switch.

Read again, the previous post states - Check your brake lights and if they all work or none work replace the switch - replace the BULBS First, the Switch maybe OK.

Hi I came across the same thing the other day and it came up with the ECP dash light and was making a awful rattling noise when I switched the car on.  Didn't drive it anywhere switched it off then switched it back on then it was ok.

Hello, thanks for the hint !

I had an ECP dash light showing up and the engine running in service mode ..

(1) Yes, one brake light bulb was gone !

(2) the motor diagnostic via EOBD adapter and iPhone showed: Height Sensor Signal /

intake Manifold Pressure Signal - Implausible Ratio - code 17961

AND I found the oil refilling lid unlocked ( I did'nt touch it for weeks ) !

Now the ECP is gone and the engine runs fine again.

     Best wishes from Hamburg -e-
