Hyundai i10

Featured Replies

I'm getting quite peed off at the moment the missus is flip flopping from one car to the next ! Yes dear I'm 100% on the aygo :) , only to say wwww the IQ is maybe better for me ! Thanx George ;) , then she's just seen the i10 and now wants a test drive ! Seems to be a cracking little car and a lot of toys for little money , its European designed and built in turkey for the European market and it does seem well put together , has anyone here got any review or driven one ? The latest model out this year

I loved my Kia 1.1 LX Picanto Auto  from 2006, and just sold it a couple of months ago.

It was really OK for 7 years and only 27,000 miles, but things were going to go wrong electrics wise, Heated  Mirrors, etc.

Drove just like an Original Mini, but nothing like the room there is in the iQ for Driver & passenger.

I had gone to look at the New i10 in 2009 and stuck with the one i had then

, the new car then was no Improvement.

Not looked at the Latest, so can not comment.

But took out the newest Picanto last year and was not impressed.

It is down to if she likes it really is it not.?

Yes George it's down to her , she really does not like driving and has really hardly driven since we married 27 years ago , shes a good driver but she's about to start working again so a car is required , she wants a tiny car but I'm putting to much pressure I think to get something bigger as I will drive it sometimes so need a little more room :) , I personally would have gone for the yaris but she's seen the i10 which is getting rave reviews so will visit and test it, however she is really liking the iq

Show her this and tell her she needs a fabia :D

I had a look at the new model at our local dealership when SWMBO's '58 plate i10 was in for a service. It looks better and feels a bit more premium inside, but having not driven one I don't know how much better it is. I can't really fault our current one, and it can be a hoot to drive once you've wound it up enough (1.2 auto), so I would expect the new one to be very good for the money.

I still plan on replacing it with a Citigo, once it comes to it, even though it's a little more expensive.

Test driven the citigo and the aygo beats it on all fronts I'm afraid , test drive the aygo you may change your mind !

Aww thats a shame :( . i sometimes find my fabia too small, can just about fit shopping in comfortably :P . all jokes aside though im no expert but i have heard some good reviews of the i10, but i think nowadays there is very little difference between manufacturers as the quality of the build of modern day cars is far superior to what it used to be.

I have driven a yaris for a while and a picanto old model, my wife has just bought a 2013 i10 this car is a cracker. I owned from new a 2011 fabia elegance 105bhp dsg yes it was better but is a bigger car not a city car and it was dearer comparing specs. The i10 is miles better than the Yaris and Micra and similar to the very latest picanto same running gear. The reason i advised her to go i10 is it and the picanto are the only small genuine automatics all the others are cvt rubber band autos or electrical operated manuals ie pandas vauxhall set al.Yes they are better on fuel but absolute crap to drive if only the Citigo had dsg.

Thanx for that she doesn't want an auto at this small size I'm not sure if there's a lot of difference in quality with all the marques

My other half has just bought a new shape picanto equinox. I believe the picanto and i10 are one and the same.

For a korean car it is very well put together in fact better than the citigo she also tried. It is also far superior spec wise and considerably cheaper.

Admittedly it doesn't drive as nice as the citigo but the 1.25 is more powerful and the other half doesn't take any notice over how it drives.

Given the 5 year hyundai or 7 year kia warranty I would certainly recommend the i10 or the picanto.

Daughter has had a new i10 1.2 Premium since March to replace her 4yr old one.

She loves it claiming it is a completely different car to the old model, she also got a fair part exchange and a good discount due to their affinity programme for certain employers, plus she got metallic for zero to help the dealer make his March target!

So go and have a look!

My mate has a i10 and loves it.

The issue is not with reliability although Toyota have done badly on the recall front recently the yaris is a harsh ride compared with the I 10 and noisy in the cabin the i10 is quieter than all the others including the Fabia and my current Blackline they both suffer from tyre and wind noise, The auto i10 we have is v good so the manual must be a JEM. I believe the latest models all have double door seals and extra sound proofing. I have a friend who is partially deaf who has just bought a new one and he can even hear his wife now not sure if that's good or bad.

Toyota have done wonderfully with Recalls Recently, they made them,  and publicized them. & held their hands up.

in the past they were caught out.

(VWG would do well to do the same.)

Hi OP

My opinion for what it's worth is that you/she must decide what is important to you.  If your wife enjoys driving you pick the vehicle she enjoys.  But if a car is just transport to her then you might want to think about resale at some point.

The longer warranty on the i10 is great if you are keeping it for a few years.

But If you are trading then the Toyotas will always be more welcome.  This probably isn't fair but public perception, or even what Jeremy Clarkson and Top Gear say, has a big effect on what folks want to buy and therefore what the dealers can move more easily.  btw, the way Toyota deals with recalls is, I think, reassuring to the public, and in complete contrast to the way that Skoda handles the vRS oil burning engines and Vauxhall handles the coil pack and gearbox failures in some of their models.

Used car buying has changed in recent years with the sharp rise in fuel, insurance, and road tax price hikes all having an effect.  Up here a few years back if folks were buying a used car the first thing they looked at was condition and how many miles it had done, then if it had service history, and everything else was a long way back.

Now they're concerned about how much is it to tax? How many miles to the gallon? Also if you are a parent how low is the insurance group? (because if you're looking to teach your 17 year old you want as cheap as possible).  And how many miles has it done?? is usually an afterthought question as they're leaving the showroom having made their minds up.

So I suppose what I'm saying is if a car is just transport to your wife, then buy the best marque, with the lowest tax and insurance group as it will be very saleable and welcome as a trade in.  Otherwise let the lady choose what she likes - forget old Bruce Forsyth and points make prizes - when it comes to the wife, brownie points are invaluable:-)

Car now ordered today 1.2 premium model had a test drive today and immediately signed up ! What a car seriously good car with high amount of kit as standard , the suspension was absolutely awesome not much body roll less than a fabia and a sweet little engine to boot, brakes where perfect discs in all four corners took it on a twisty mountain road from Llandudno , Llanrwst ,betws y coed , and towards Bethesda and finally bangor then A55 back to the threeways garage in Abergele so quite a good run and averaged over 50mpg over this run and I didn't hang around either, really comfy ride but reassuringly firm well done the Koreans ! I'm so impressed with these cars so much so I'm going for the i40 tourer in black premium se model so bye bye golf!

Nice.

I hope She went for Silver.

the i40 Tourer is a mean looking car when in Black.

Too much like hard work to keep looking good though when it is a black one.
