Extended Warranty, advice please

Featured Replies

Just received my quote to extend the warranty on my VRS and was surprised at the price. Warranty Direct are asking for approx £360 for 3 years extension.

The car has done 64000 miles and is a 59 plate petrol VRS.

This seems to me to be a good price for a car of this age, even if it means I won't be able to remap it.

What do you guys think?

Are there any gotchas that I might be missing?

Thanks for your help.

Any gotchas will be in the Policy Document which you need to read carefully and then comply fully with. Which of the 4 levels of cover have they quoted you for, eg LuxuryCare or SecureCare?

Beware. I went with Warranty Direct at a similar cost. Yes it gives you "peace of mind" however the real test was flunked after 3 years of premiums and no faults with my 07 car. The G60 Teves fault, which I was primarily concerned about, was repaired by Skoda in Aug 13 for just the cost of a diagnosis. A few weeks later the real offside ABS sensor showed as a fault. Fully expecting an insured repair, a Skoda dealer charged me £500 to replace the sensor and the CORRODED ABS sensor ring inside the wheel hub. If you check the policy it will not pay for corrosion or wear and tear. They did pay for the actual ABS sensor but left me about £350 out of pocket. My faith in the policy evaporated. If the turbo fails they will also not pay for carbon build up, so I expect that would also not be covered. Save the premium and don't waste your money. Unsurprisingly Warranty Direct and myself have parted company.

They are quoting for ExtraCare Lite - whatever that is.

The policy document for ExtraCare Lite is in the first link below. Policy documents for other levels of cover are in the second link. Cover is normally for one year at a time so it is interesting that you are being offered a 3 year extension, of is it an extension for a third year?

When I bought the car I got 2 years extended warranty from the dealer and this is about to expire without any claims. The new quote is for up to three extra years.

I've been waiting to receive my quote but none have appeared despite calling ...Need some help?

Call us on: 0844 573 8017...on two occasions over the last two months (first time they said they would contact me nearer the time, and the second time they said that they never do this  and who had told me that! and i suggested I contacted to my local Skoda dealer).  I've also phoned my local Skoda dealer who said they'd get back to me....and still haven't!!!  Car has only done 32,000 and manufacture's warranty ends next week!
