Picked up my pre-registered Superb SE (4x4 170) on Thursday and very pleased with the choice. Some thanks must go to the contributors of this forum, as the information helped to make my new car decision.

 

One thing I've picked up on is that the auto wipers can be enabled using the VCDS cable and software. I wondered if there was anyone in Kent with the cable who would like a bit of beer money for the privilege of overriding Skoda UK's decision on what an 'SE' should have? I'm located in Maidstone so if anyone nearby is up for that then let me know.

It certainly worked on my 2011 SE.

 

Not sure if things have changed with the facelift but I doubt it.

Thanks very much - the map is a great tool.

There is a chance that things have changed post-FL but the hardware is definitely there and it has to be worth a try, seems silly not to!

If the car has a rain sensor (It looks out through the windscreen from where the rear view mirror attaches in the car), then it almost certainly can be enabled.

Looks like it. It has the auto dimming mirror with the box behind it, and as I understand the auto lights use the same sensor box. I've dropped a message to someone nearby with VCDS so hopefully I'll at least be able to take a look, and I'll let you all know for future reference.

Just wanted to say thanks to both in this thread for your advice - found a local member (Gizmo68) with VCDS who very happily enabled rain sense wipers for me, and in the bargain recommended a great place nearby for my wife and I to spend the rest of the morning by the beach since we were in that neck of the woods!

 

He also enabled for me the full screen Maxidot MPH display, and the maxidot cruise setting in the bottom left. This may interest some, as it appears that this code does not work on all variants (mine is a 2013 [14 plate] 2.0 170CR 4x4 SE). Pretty handy feature actually, nice to know what speed it's set to before hitting 'resume' on the cruise.

Where can I get this done in S Wales I've just got in last month my first Superb Estate and love it but autowipers would be the cherry on the cake

We tried to get this enabled on our FL 14 plate Twindoor when we had our Columbus installed but they don't seem to respond to rain.  It has auto lights so would have thought it should have the wipers too.

 

Any suggestions?

Did you enable the auto wipers?

 

Just because you have auto lights doesn't mean you have auto wipers. If they haven't been enabled using VCDS then you won't have them.

 

Move the wiper stalk up from the off position to the first position with the ignition on.

 

If the wipers wipe with a consistent time gap in between wipes then you have standard intermittent wipers.

 

If when moving the wipers to the first position on a dry screen and the wipers don't move then you have auto wipers.
