brake calipers different widths

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a dec 00 fabia tdi. I am fairly certain I personally fitted pads before and my local garage fitted pads before.

However the garage tells me that on fitting latest set, off side ok, but nearside caliper will not open far enough to fit pads.

It's not that it is stuck, they say physically the caliper gaps are smaller.

The pads I supplied said Octavia on the box.

Are octavia and fabia the same pad?

Does anyone know if different thicknessses of pad are available?

I am fairly sure that both front calipers are original (however 1 could have been changed prior to my prchase). Both calipers have F111 on them (I think).

The pads do not have a wear sensor - the parts supplier lists 2 other types which are different shapes - my calipers both take same shape but 1 needs to be thinner (obviously I fit all 4 thin, if I can get them).

Thanks Colin

I ordered the parts from Eurocarparts.com and I'm pretty sure they also said they were suitable for the Octavia (according to the box). Mine both came with wear indicators though and fitted perfectly. Might be worth having a look at the web site and seeing which part number it recommends and if that ties up with what you ordered..... :D
