Oil Consumption update

Featured Replies

Hello,

Thought I would update you on what is happening to my car in regard to the oil consumption issue. My car is a 2011 vRS on 35k (first engine).

Started off noticing a lot of oil being used and the back of the car being covered in oil spots, took it to progress Skoda in Bedford who advised to do an oil consumption test on the vehicle. They also said that there were some breather mods and ECU update to do on it. They drained the oil and topped it to the correct mark and told me to do 300miles in the car and book it back in.

Took it back 313miles later and said it had used 0.7l and the black spots over the rear were still there. They changed the oil again and did the modifications and cleaned the car.

Booked it in a week later (307miles) for the 2nd lot of results which showed with the breather mods it had lost 0.55l in 300 miles, better but they were still unhappy with the amount being used. The back of the car is still being covered in black spots of oil and they have decided that it is to have a new engine as they are not happy with the results and out of the tolerances given.

So on Monday 22nd of September, car is going in to have a new engine fitted, hopefully this will cure it. I have to say that the dealer have been very helpful and I would highly recommend them. Also getting to try out the whole skoda range with the amount of times it has been in.

I will keep it updated with how the new engine is.

That is great news for you Tom88 .

Glad to hear you dealer experience has been positive.

At last the dealers and Skoda UK appear to be acting in the Customers best interest!

Best of luck with the new motor.

Is it coming from UK stock or direct from German operation.

See if you can take some photos of the engine, when it arrives in it's cradle.  Especially of the labels attached for comparison with others.

Cheers.

Delighted to hear of a dealer who takes the correct attitude right from the outset, much easier to deal with all round if that happens I would think. We just got ours back yesterday after an engine change and we are hopeful ours will be fine in terms of oil use now. I have photos of the new engine but no idea how to upload them.
