Car alarm

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a Meta systems alarm on my 2002 vrs.Not sure if it was dealer fitted or after market. Ivethought for a long time that it's wiring might be interfering with some electrics in the car and the little led on the dash is always on which seems weird

Did all models have an alarm as standard?

Would it be possible to track the wiring and if I can find it dis-connect its power source to see if my dodgy electrics improve?? Presume it's behind the dash somewhere...

Probably can't just dis-connect them anyway, sort of makes life too easy for the car thief!

I should probably just leave this be as I havent a rashers when it comes to wiring etc dash LED drives me nuts though and people always asking why it's always on:(

Thanks up front!!

No MK1 vRS left the factory with an alarm, it will be aftermarket. If the alarm is Thatcham approved and fitted properly then it should be difficult to remove. Once you have located the box, the wiring will all be the same colour so identifying what does what is going to be difficult. The original car wiring is usually modified so its no longer possible to connect it as it left the factory, otherwise it would as you say make it easy for the thief.

Sounds fairly tricky...maybe I'll leave well enough alone, for now anyway. Few other bits to keep me occupied. On the plus side had a good look around and still no oil leaks 2 weeks on after replacing cam cover gasket so thanks to all who advised on that one too:)

Cheers for the quick reply Mannyo
