how to remove connector from horn

Featured Replies

Hello,

I think i have 2 broken car horn, 1 was broken for a longer time. But some people say it's only made in emergency, so if you use it more it will fail after some time.

I use it daily, just to let others know I'm passing by ;-)

When pushing the steerwheel, I clearly hear the relay switching, so  I know it must be the horn or some wiring issue.

I would like to measure it but after 2 long trials I couldn't disconnect the connector from the horn.

Pulling, pushing, I tried and tried but nothing moved.

Does someone know how to disconnect it?

Looks like this, this seller had also difficulties I guess. :)

thanks

Use a screwdriver in the slot on the connector body to release the latch - then it will just pull apart.

rotodiesel.

Unfortunately that seems pretty standard practice for people dismantling cars on a large scale. Rather than take the time to undo connectors or clips properly they just chop through the cable, pipe or whatever with cutters as it's quicker.

It's perhaps not such an issue with wiring, but I remember once searching breakers yards for a particular section of coolant hose for a Pug diesel and found that every single one had been chopped through by people removing the radiators or expansion tanks, rendering the hose useless! I ended up having to order the hose specially from a dealer for about £40.
