Smooth black plastic trim restoration

Featured Replies

I have picked up a second hand (61) Scout 1.8 and there are a few things I want to do to it just to spruce it up a bit. The main thing is to sort the smooth black plastic bumpers and arches. they are not too bad, but they are starting to fade a little, and the rear bumper has suffered lots of small scratches due to a dog.

I have been looking at  Black WOW restorer as it seems to get good write-ups, but I was wondering if any of you lot have used any particular products with good results?

It seams the smooth plastic is harder to restore than the taxtured stuff. Typical!..lol

Cheers in advance,

Rob

DoDo Juice Supernatural Satin Trim sealant seems pretty good value and promises much.

But the one that gets recommended a lot is the Gtecniq C4 Permanent Trim restorer.

I've not used either, but am looking to purchase some shortly so will be interested in others responses to this.

HTH.

C4 is great stuff

Make sure you read the instructions carefully

looking at that G4 stuff it would take me many hours of application with that tiny pad, and many bottles as there is a lot of plastic on the Scout :(

Worth it though

An alternative to C4 is CarPro DLUX, same sort of thing but you get double the amount (30ml).  You'll be suprised just how much trim these products will cover as they go a long way plus they will last 3-4 times longer than the likes of Black WOW etc.

Never tried Black Wow - so cannot comment.

Dependent on budget some products i would recommend:-

- CarPro DLUX

- Krystal Kleen Trim-X (my current choice)

- CarPro PERL

Hope this helps.
