hey i have a htp 70 12v engine and it seems to have an annoying ratte noise when u stick your ear in passenger side wheel arch quite annoyoing to as ity sounds not very nice and i am worried

Camchain maybe? Have you heard another one?

The camchain can be heard, not like a cambelt which is a lot quieter

But when cold they can rattle more cant they.

Plus, if the OP hasnt had a camchain driven engine before, he may not be used to the noise, even though its completely normal.

True mine hit 100K + with no rattle

Yanno what i mean though? You can always hear hear camchain cant ya. Always can on any camchain engine.

Not always quite as much as the 1.0 litre corsa engines though aha.

yeah seems to be fine when warm and it only done 42500 miles :P magnatec oil for it next service

Did about 200 mile in it over few days and hasnt skipped a beat

Check if the rattle disappears when you press the clutch. I'be found the release bearing can be a little noisy sometimes.

Spot on xman! I'd say the same, it's more likely that than the camchain. All my camchain driven engines are completely quiet hot or cold. Some engines have tensioners that are slow to react when cold but mostly not.

na i havnt had it sorted as the gears go in and out like a dream so it isnt faulty
