Introduction of GLB. Hi I am a fussy car owner who bought his first Skoda 2 years ago and have been kicking myself ever since for not doing so earlier

I bought my 2012 1.8 TSi L&K Octavia two years ago when it had 6000 miles on the clock. I bought it after the BMW 1 Series I had failed its MOT as the windscreen washers were blocked and the dealer wanted 150 pounds to fix it. The air line at my local car wash did the job for free but I was so niggled I decided to change. I work abroad but we have our home in the UK and my wife goes home more often than I do so we keep a car which is now my Skoda. The Octavia has been a revelation, it's engine makes it a real wolf in sheeps clothing, it spec level is as good as any other quality car I have owned during my 40 years of driving. I have been really impressed by the level of quality and service given by my local Skoda dealer and now with only 15000 miles on it I have just fitted a Columbus Satnav by purchasing through E-Bay

at a silly price from Lithuania and have had a week driving it in the manner it deserves. I love the car, it beats any BMW, Volvo, Ford, VW, Renault, Mitsibishi that I have owned hands down.

My DSG gearbox is now starting to have some juddering and it was Briskoda where I found some decent explanation of what the fault is, and that it is a fairly common problem within the whole VAG group. It has just had its gearbox oil changed and reprogrammed by the dealer but the judder still comes back when the oil is warmed up. I will give it to the dealer for an extended test when my wife comes back and see what the prognosis will be. I read somewhere on the net that repairs can cost up to 900 pounds to repair and obviously won't be very happy to do it with the dealer if they are not prepared to be reasonable. I have mentioned the judder in the gear change right while it was still in warranty but it was never that bad. It is a bit worse now.

I will fix it and keep the car it's too good not to!

If anyone has suffered similar or found any easy fix please let me know.

Regards

GLB
