Correct Tyre pressures?

Featured Replies

Sorry for being a bit of a thicky, but I'm having problems interpreting the tyre pressures on the sticker inside the fuel flap in my Fabia. My only other car was a Ford Fiesta and the pressures were something like 30psi for the front ones and 25 for the rear. I can't see anything to correlate to psi in the sticker I have. I don't have the figures to hand at the mo, but can report them back if required.

Basically, can anybody please tell me the correct psi for a 1.9TDi Fabia? The front ones are looking a bit flat but I don't want to over-inflate them!!

Cheers.

The figures inside the flap are in bar. Multiply them by 14.5037738 to get PSI. The two garages nearest me both have digital air thingies that do both scales of measurement.

Excellent! Many thanks.

I usually inflate them to 34psi on the front and 32 on the back, i have a Fabia VRS

Where can I get a cheap digital guage that'll be accurate - really hate relying on Sainsburys' one as I know for a fact it's off.

I could have coped with bar! The ones in the filler cap on my Fabia were in that commonly used unit of pressure, kPa ;) Ended up going home, Googling for a conversion and then going back to the forecourt  From memory, I think it was 32psi on the fronts and 30psi on the backs for my 1.9TDi Elegance (14" alloys)....

I bought one recently from Halfords and it seems to read the same as the local Tesco air gauge :D Was about 3 quid I think.....

Having used supermarket ones I took my car to the dealer because the geometry felt crap (I can always tell :) ) and it turned out the pressures were well out!

So where do you top up your tyres with air now? :D

Generally you cant. They arent calibrated and neither are petrol forcourt gauges.

Digital are also usually futher out than analouge ones.
