MDI and a Samsung S4

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have recently purchased the Superb estate which comes with the Columbus unit. I don't know why, but i bought the MDI as the dealer advised it was a good piece of kit. However, after purchasing my own cable and plugging it into my Samsung S4 it is showing as not compatible. After further research, it would appear that it isnt compatible with most devices other than Apple. The dealer stated he wasnt aware of this and Skoda are 'looking' into this!

Can anyone advice of a way of getting round this and being able to use my S4 with the MDI????

Hi

I don't have a Samsung or Columbus Unit at the moment but on the Columbus have you tried the settings menus?  Something like - Settings - WiFi and Network - USB Utilities - then choose the option to "connect to storage (or storage PC?).

You might then have to choose to connect as storage or some such on your phone.

I hope it helps

If that doesn't work have you thought of using the MDI connector to power your phone and connecting via bluetooth?

What MDI are you using?  Is it a VW MDI> USB?

I can use the bluetooth regardless. But £180 for a phone charger is a cheek! I'm not sure about the mdi. It was factory fitted by skoda and i bought the cable from Germany of eBay. There wasn't many settings choices when i connected the mdi to the phone. It just said it wasnt recognised. There isn't way i can see to alter either phone or mdi

I need some basic help or skoda need to offer a refund and explain in simple terms how to get it working or explain what it does and doesn't work with
