tdi tuning

Featured Replies

Hi all. Was thinking of getting a tuning box for my vrs and was intrested to hear anyone's opinions on these before buying.

Cheers Kyle

I had one on my Ibiza FR. I didn't notice any difference because I didnt realise the car had already been custom remapped when I bought it! Tried it on a friends Fabia VRS and it totally changed the performance, much quicker, and smooth too. However, it smoked a lot depending on what setting it was on (had 6 in total).

Can't decide whether its white mans magic, or just a gimmick from overfuelling/boosting and detrimental to the engine components.

Ive got a DTUK one on that j bought second hand from another member on here.completly changes the performance (4 maps and 3 boost levels). I currently run top map and +1 boost and haven't had any issues.i looked long and hard about what other members has said on this forum (search buying a CrDt box) and would completly recommend it getting one.not only do I get better performance, it's made the car nicer to drive and is more economical ( I got 52mpg calculated up to scotland and back a few weeks ago with a packed car)

PD or CR?

What mileage is your engine?

I have the DTUK one too the CRD-t one i haven't had any issues with mine at all and its been fitted for about 16 months since the car was a couple of months old. You can definitely feel the extra power and i don't think i use any extra fuel.

The only noticeable side effect is that it seems to throw the cars fuel consumption display out a bit more than it usually is making it read a little high, actually mpg hasn't really changed though i still get approx 500 miles before the fuel light comes on.

I am thinking about changing cars soon so was thinking about taking the box off and selling it.

The Bluespark boxes get some good feedback on the Fabia VRS forum by various owners.Ive not heard of anyone with one on the octavia but i am seriously thinking of getting one soon. I made contact with them and they were very helpful also a bit cheaper than others.

Thanks all.

Sheldon Cooper I have a 170pd done 80k

I had a tdi tuning box fitted on my mk1 octavia for at least 80k miles with to issues what so ever although the box wasn't as advanced as the DT UK ones now. You could feel the increase in torque but that was a cheap one without the boost control. In fact the car is still going strong and I traded it in at 160k on the clock so must be close to 180k now. I know the guy that bought it! Most people say a remap is the best way to do it.

Have to say that I will be spending the extra cash on a remap but check out this thread on the DT UK boxes.

Anyone remember dragon tuning boxes? I had one on my fabia vrs and yeah it was great dont get me wrong but when i had my second vrs remapped it was in a whole new ball park. Go for the remap mate.
