disabling apps on Xperia Z3

Featured Replies

Probably applies to all android phones. I don't see how I can disable / prevent an app from auto-running in the background? The shell motorist app is using 40% of my battery life despite me never using it - This is at least 10 times more than any other app is consuming. I want to try and turn it off until I actually fire up the app, but can't see where. :D

settings>apps>shell>force stop might work, Jase.

As above,, but I have AVG pro on my Z ultra and you can set the shut down the auto run on this as well, and it's a good anti virus.

I force stop, then seconds later it kicks back in to life again.  Think I am just going to uninstall it.  Shame really as its useful when I am somewhere odd and want Vpower diesel.

Try an app called "greenify"

I use the 'App Ops' app for this (in the Play Store, by Sylvain Galand) . It allows you to tweak individual permissions on every app, including auto-start. In my case I use it to turn off location and keep alive requests for certain apps that were killing the battery.

Keeps crashing on my Nexus 7

Well, after installing AVG free, it seemed to pickup that the Shell app was soaking up battery, and I clicked on it (with AVG) as an app to kill and I "think" it's stopped.  I've also activated "ultra stamina" mode which appears will kill most apps when the phone isn't in use.  Should all help in the long run.  Generally though, this Z3 is proving to be pretty awesome.

I have the Z3 compact Jason and loving it. I was the iPhone fan for the last 4 years...not anymore :)

I've gone full fat Z3 as fancied the slightly larger screen for sat-nav and it does make navigating a little easier for my fat fingers as all the icons appear to be about 20% larger than when I had my Xperia T.

Only when battery gets really low.  I am sure somewhere in there I was able to get a list of "consuming apps" and the Shell app was there.

Yeah. I found that function now. Thanks...;)
