Hi just after some clues really, mk1 octy 1.9tdi 130bhp, 2004 107k. When slowing I.e from motorway speed onto exit slip 6th to 5th there seems to be a pronounced humming or whine from the gearbox.

Now the car has been doing this for some time now and not affected it in any other way hence just asking for clues before possibly paying out.

She is still on original clutch and certainly doesn't show any clues of expiring anytime soon. Could this be something to do with the DMF? Thanks

You sure it's from the box and not a wheel bearing?

Strange that it only does it dropping sixth to fifth on box around 70ish. Never hear it on any other form of driving?
