HELP NEEDED !

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I need your help, ive got two potential solutions for my brake upgrade on the Yeti. I was going to leave it for now but these are too goood to pass up.

Option 1. Full front suspension legs (struts, hubs, callipers, discs ets) from a 2013 VW Golf 2.0tdi, £330 delivered.

Option 2. Same set up but from a 2013 Octavia VRS £280 but Inhave to arrange a currier.

Which one would you go for? I'm going to have them sent to Shark Performance as the cars going there on the 19th November anyway for some more work doing.

Id personally go with the vrs set up, the vw set up may not be as harsh but i prefer feel than softness, it's gonna end up a similar price so the choice is yours really ;)

Would the Golf ones give you a similar ride height to what you have at present?  So you could just fit and forget until you want/need to upgrade?

Are the Vrs lower? - do you have any ride height details for Golf/Yeti/Vrs?

Would you be able to live with any nose down difference?  Would anyone notice, either appearance or handling wise?

Standard springs are cheap apparently, whereas the "sport" springs aren't - £70ish each for the front.

The breaker who shipped mine, lied to the courier about the weight.  Each one was pretty heavy, well over the 20kg limit.  (I did not get the spring/dampers either).

The driver was not pleased.  Fortunately I was there, or he may have just oiked them off the back of his truck.

If you end up paying per the real weight then it may make it pretty expensive.

Would £50 cover the cost of fuel for you to collect?

Shark are unsure about the fit of the Golf ones as the part numbers aren't matching, I thought they would be a straight fit and allow me to upgrade disc size later on.

So the VRS leaves the questions of ride hight, I may be able to use the springs I have on now if it's a big difference. I'm trying to maintain a stock look so as long as the nose down isn't too exaggerated it wouldn't bother me and would give me the 'big brake' upgrade out of the box.

The VRS kit is in Essex so delivery is my best option, I can arrange the courier from my end and have it to Shark ready for when the car is in.

It's all an unknown with the Greenline so I'm trying to get to best guess using everyone's experience and knowledge.

I've never even looked under the bonnet of a Yeti.  Is a greenline different again?  Have you had a look on EKTA?

I had always assumed they were all just normal PQ35 compatable and interchangable bits.

Like my Octavia and the Scirroco which donated its brake parts.

I know the wishbones changed from the cast/forged one to pressed and fabricated steel for example, but as to anything else dimensionally and geometrically....

I think it was EKTA Shark were checking on, is there an online access to it?

Yes, but I think its restricted, supposedly dealer only?

However people on here have posted links to bits of it.

Maybe a re-post with the specific request?

if you register for free on vagcat they have pretty much ekta in the parts catalogue wen you log in. Its identical to what i see when i pop into the parts dept down my local dealers and they ask me to look and pick out exactly what im looking for :D
