I only put it on bearings, not the piston and bore.

When I used to build engine's and I tend to use a smear of Graphogen on all bearing surface's especially if I knew or thought that it was going to sit for a little while before being turned over or get any kind of oil pressure.

I know you state that you think the damage was caused by the crud left in the head, but out of interest don't suppose you know the make of the replacement bearing's used in the head do you?

Reason I ask is, that when Federal Mogul changed all the branding over to Glyco bearing's we had a LOT of bearing issues at work where they would pinch up due to being too tight, even when being used with new old stock crank shafts from factory we would still have this issue. Several of the crank regrinds we had to undertake would have be to ground towards the lower limit for them to turn freely enough.

They were glyco bearings, I have now put everything back together and got round to starting it today, I have lost the rough start :) although I still seem to have the lack of power. Maybe I am over estimating how much power it actually has and it's running how it should, I'm really not sure. Going to get the lsd fitted next see what that does, but it may be something I have to live with now.

Anyway I would like to thank everyone who gave me advice, thanks a lot :)

Well, it's been a while but I've had the car off the road after the skim again, and dicided to buy new bearings and fit the new camshaft again, along with the new tappets. And the out come so far has been soooo worth it! I seem to have lost my rough start and now got power! Don't want to speak too soon as I haven't been out, out in it due to snapping a T piece conection for the coolant. But just to let everyone know it seems back to its old self :) I'm just really ega to get the lsd fitted next week now I will report back tomorrow if anything changes. Again, Thanks for all the help and input it really is appreciated!

Nice start to the new year after your hard work :)

Good to hear it Paul, building engines isn't about luck, it's painstaking and time-consuming work and I always check and double check everything after an installation, if you've got it right any engine should always start first prod.

It's is very time consuming lol however the out come now it's back together with only a short drive put a huge smile on my face! And a massive sigh of relief :)

Here's a quick video of my rough start lol it didn't sound like this on the first turn today. Hopefully the video work.

Tomorow will be consisting of fitting the T piece connector and a final check over making sure everything's tight :)

Checked the timing today and is 1.7/2.2, I have noticed it a tiny bit lumpy every now and then on idle, nothing I can't deal with, but do I alter the timing to 0.0 or leave it as its running good?

Set it to 0.0, it should still run just as well but idle better.

-0.6 to 0.0 is ideal
