Hi - newbie with Mk1 Octy vRS

Hi everyone,

Just recently bought a mk1 Octavia vRS estate in black, and very happy with it for the money. Should have bought one years ago as much nicer to drive than the Golf MK4 GTI Anniversary I had last year, even though broadly the same thing! Its my first Skoda bought as a cheap performance car as sold most of my stuff to move house!

Mine is an unmarked ex-Kent police with unfortunately no service book (except the cam belt), so I had to decide on it purely on condition and the way it drove. Its not had a hard life. There are no holes in it or bits missing as with many and it drives really nicely. So far the priorities have been a good service with all filters and wiper blades. I've since fitted a new grille badge, boot liner, indicators and a rug doctor for the carpet/seats (still a bit damp!).

Next things on the list are more detailing, touch ups, sort out the squeaky rear brakes, sort out the terrible sounding stereo, fix the parking sensors, fix the strange courtesy light/boot light issues and change the gloss black Darth Vadar 16" spiders to the 17" version which I will do in met grey(anyone wanna p/x??!). Don't think I want to remap it as its just pleasant as it is right now.

Great forum - I used it to guide me before buying and hope to be here long term.
