I need some heat

Featured Replies

Froze my A55! off this morning coming to work...

Ross mentioned something about setting the motors on my venting system - everything works, including the AC, but the temp sensor is inactive. As usual it could be another case of vRS being different to TDI, Sooooooo, in that case, where/what/how does the "central convenience" (I LOVE that name for it  ) temp sensor operate?

 Thanks, BRRRrrrrr! :D

Central Convienance doesnt have a temp sensor.

The A/C control unit has a built in temp sensor, its behind the small grill at the front of the panel. Comes complete with the unit.

I can't picture this grill? The "unit" would that be the block/unit that the pair of dials/ac+recirc buttons sit in. I remember undoing that with torx screws from underneath and the sides. If the vRS version of this unit will solve the problem then it sounds like an easy fix.

(forgot to mention the "long metal twisty bit with square ends went in 180 degrees out) - Now "point at feet" = windscreen, and so on. Would be good to get that right too eh. ;)

Anyone got photo's of this bit to show this area please? :)

Help is at hand

But none of this will work if the settings havent been carried out with VAG COM or if the motor for temp flap is jammed or faulty.

Excellent piccie!

So, even though I've not altered anything (apart from connections TO this set of dials, etc) I still need to faff around with vag-com? What should I do with vag com then - Might I be able to get away with not fitting the vRS dials, etc, just by altering something on the lappie? I kind of always assumed (wrongly as usual?) that if I changed nothing, nothing would need changing.

However, if like the boost sensor (what my dealer told me today they call a "thrust sensor" :naughty:  ) requires renewing due to new wiring, the temp sensor will need changing as well (so may as well get vRS whole block, eh?)

If you disconnect the Climatic ECU it needs resetting.

Address 08

Basic settings (04)

channel 001

channel 002.

 Once again, the fountain of Skoda knowledge! I shall give this a crack. I always assumed it was fine as it was blowing variably and the A/C was working. It just took a drop in temps to realise the heater wasn't working. :o

Is it just a case of accessing channel 001 and 002 to reset then? I never realised the climatic was a whole ECU of its own. Very techie.

Yep go into the channels one at a time and they will run stop to stop.

 God Bless Briskoda. Another trip to the stealers avoided. (I assume this is what they would have done too?)

God bless Ross you mean!

Does this mean it has heat now J?

Christ almighty Tom, I don't work THAT quick... :) It'll be a job for tomorrow. Just need to lay an extension cord out to the car in the road. :D

I'll have a crack tomorrow night, and probably wear gloves & a hat for my commute to work in the morning. ;)

Had a wee problem - Ran through this process but wasn't too sure I did the channel accessing for logn enough.... I went into channel 001 and some kind of measurement came up, but it didn't seem to be doing any process so I did a "done, go back" after about 10 seconds - the same for channel 002. Did I leave each channel long enough? Did I have to login with the code before accessing the basic settings?

It was damn cold again this morning. :D

edit: These were the faults I was getting: Not sure about 2nd one, but pretty sure 1st one is still there now - Can do a check tonight to be sure

01296 - Sensor for vent temp, center - Open or short to B+

01271 - Position motor for temp flap (V68) Open or short to B+

Sounds like the temp sensor might be fuuubarrred! I suspect it'll be reasonably cheap to replace and as long as it's easy to get to, nice and easy to change :D

No idea on the motor though - that sounds terminal if a reset didn't work :(
