I've found the annoying rattle........

Featured Replies

I had an annoying rattle coming somewhere around the front passenger area, I've  found it.

It's the top of the front passenger side seat belt fastener, the bit where the seat belt clips into. It's the  red plastic bit in the top. If press it in with my finger it stops, remove finger it rattles.  Trip to the dealers after christmas I think.

I thought you were going to say it was the wife...

WD40!

WD40!

are there any electrical connections under the red plastic ?  I was thinking more of a silican spray as WD40 stinks a bit

Not sure where the pre-tensioner wires connect to, but the smell of WD40 tends to fade after a few days, I've used it for quite a few rattles/squeaks with varied success.

Drip candle wax into it, it works as dry lubricate without smell and doesn't go away unlike oil or silicon sprays, its great on squeaky door hinges too, do it once and never again.

Does it still rattle when the buckle is inserted?

If not, then fasten it until you can get to the dealers, they might not like it if you fill it with wax and WD40 then ask for a replacement under warranty.

Thought I had one of those elusive rattles. I thought it was coming from passenger's side, passengers said it was coming from driver's side! Eventually it disappeared when we had a brief glimpse of winter sun. It was my sunglasses in the overhead cubby. Put them back in a different position and peace and calm reigns again.
