Wheel bearing at 30k?

Featured Replies

Just noticed my VRS droaning, not sure if a wheel bearing or tyre noise. In fact it's not so much droaning as making a fast paced intermittent droan in time with the wheel rotation.

I'm not entirely sure it's a bearing actually, it doesn't have all the tell tale signs. I've tried to load up each side to narrow it down but can't seem to hear one side louder than the other. I was in the passenger seat the other night and could almost feel the vibration of this rotation noise.

Seems odd, tyres are new continentals and haven't heard this before, baring in mind I regulalrly travel at 70mph.

Any ideas?

She's under warranty.

I have just had a front wheel bearing replaced at 20K under an extended warranty. I have a spare set of alloys with tyres so was able to confirm that the noise was not tyre-related. Symptoms were a droning noise which started at 25mph and increased in volume with speed. The noise appeared to be coming from the front offside but unhelpfully didn't vary when turning left or right.
