intermittent ignition fault

Featured Replies

Hi, im having trouble with my octavia vrs diesel, sometimes when i put the key in the ignition usually all dashboard lights should light up but they dont an when its at fault the car will not start all other lights an electronic components work all fuses are ok battery an alternater are good. Anyone know of this in other skodas or have any idea what the problem is iv had it plugged in but no fault code is present.

Does it matter what key you use, if you have more than one?

No it will do it with both keys i thought it could have been immobiliser at first when it first started doin the fault i would have to leave the key in the ignition an a few minutes later the lights would come on an it would start sort of a delayed reaction.

How very strange.

I remember some people having intermittent ignition issues from corroded relays under the bonnet.

Also problems with the switch on your ignition barrel.

Just found this which might be helpful:

And I think you'll get more responses if this is moved to the Octavia sub forum as it's model specific.

I'll be very interested to know what's going on.
