Wondering if someone could help im looking to set my sidelights as my drls i can activate north american but it brings the dipped beam on aswell. Im only wanting the sidelights. If i activate scandinavian and north america then only the dipped beam comes on anyway of getting it the other way round.my module is 3co-937-049-D

Why not just switch on your sidelights manually and have the rears on as well.

I could yes but i have aftermarket headlights with a led strip for the sidelights and ive currently got them wired up to an ignition live but ive always got the bulb out warning so i want them wired in as sidelights again but still want them as drls

If so then you'll need to fit resistors to them to stop the blown-bulb warning on the dash whether you wire / code them for sidelights or DRL's.

If you have factory fit foglights you could set them to perform the role of DRL's at reduced brightness.

Yip thats the headlights i have the leds connected as sidelights dont bring on the bulb warning ive got foglights but dont want them as the drls even if they are dimmed down ill always get flashed for driving with fog lights on it was only an idea to see if it could be done. Why do the leds need to be dimmed if there connected as sidelights they pass an mot no bother at full brightness yet if i have them as drls at the same brightness why do they need dimmed when the sidelight switch is set on.

Mike; Think you are assuming the OP's LED strip, which in his upgraded headlight unit is his sidelights: if he sets them to DRL function would be brighter?

I think they stay at the same sidelight brightness, he just wants them to come on with the ignition like a standard DRL, not at super bright!

The leds in the headlight are only sidelights the dont work as drls. Ive wired them from the fuse box to work as drls it was just id seen in the vcds section someone had a citigo and set there sidelight circuit to come on with the ignition so thought id try it on a pre fl octavia. Im happy the way mine works just now. I might see if i can buy one of the drl wiring kits off ebay to make them full brightness when lights are off and dimmed when sidelights are on. Was just hoping for a way of doing it with vcds.
