Brake Pedal Switch Normal Operation

Featured Replies

I have a 1.9 TDI 6 speed DSG Octavia.

When coming to a stop in slow traffic, I've noticed that sometimes my clutch judders as if it's not being released properly.

I reset the gearbox according to the Ross Tech guide, and it's still the same.

I came to realise this morning what's causing it.

When I depress my brake pedal for maybe the first 2/3 cm, there is a light braking force as you'd expect, however the car doesn't seem to know the pedal is being pressed. If I press down a bit further on the pedal, the brake lights come on as normal.

It's definitely doing this, as when sat in neutral with my foot lightly pressed on the brake, the drive lock light is on. Depressing further, it goes off. I can release the brake slightly, but not completely and the drive lock light comes back on.

The clutch isn't being released as the car doesn't seem to know that I'm actually braking when coming to a stop in slow moving traffic.

Is this normal, or is it my pedal switch?

That doesn't sound completely right to me.

Light pressure on my brake pedal (maybe only about 1cm travel) is enough to disable the drive lock light.

I wonder if there is some adjustment on the brake light switch to make it trigger sooner?

Are you going to the meet at the weekend in Lincoln?

Phil
