Swapping Stream for Stream MP3? Straight Swap? Code Required?

Featured Replies

Sorry if this question has already been answered before!

Car: Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI Elegance 05 reg

I've been reading the forums about swapping my stream in my car to a stream MP3 and from what I know it is a straight swap, now what I couldn't figure out was when looking to buy a stream MP3 on eBay people had mentioned "no code" on there adverts. That's the bit which I don't understand. Can I buy a stream MP3 with no code and just swap it? or do I need a code with the Stream MP3 and if I do it how do I go about using that code to get it to work with the car.

This is one which I seen description says " NO CODE "

Any help would be appreciated

You should have the code which the radio has/was coded with or it won't work in the new car.

so i need to find one that comes with a code??

As Paul says you need the code for the radio which is stored in the original car's cluster.

But with the skz.... number on the back in one of the pictures, you can get the code off a dealer (if its not stolen) or an eBay vendor within 24 hours (and more cheaply). Try item 281533049281 which I have recently used successfully.

Ok.. What do I do once I get the code? Enter it in to the new system??

I thought the dealers didn't have access to do that anymore.

Maybe actually but can be had off eBay for sure.

Streight swap

If cd player has no code purchase one of eBay for £10.99 and give them the serial number

Once they provide u with a r digit code just smack it in and away you go

The stereo will ask for it when first turned on (and after every subsequent disconnect of the battery or unit I believe-can anyone confirm the latter?)

If i purchase one with a code is it a straight swap???

Easy as that??

You will have to wire in an aux-in feed to the back of the unit to take full advantage of the new functions.

Radio codes can be 'restored' from a company called Fuller's.  They cost ~£10 from memory.

The stereo will ask for it when first turned on (and after every subsequent disconnect of the battery or unit I believe-can anyone confirm the latter?)

Only when first fitting the stereo. The car will remember the code during a battery disconnect and restor it automatically (although it may take a couple of minutes).

I believe the last three codes can be stored in the car's 'memory'.

Thanks. Good news as I will be swapping mine out and I hoped that would be the case.

I have a steam mp3 with code you can have free if you want it

Hi..

Just got round to purchase a Stream MP3 with a code, all fitted and working.

I also want to connect Aux to it, but cant seem to find the adapter on eBay.

Does it connect to the pins at the rear of the stereo?? I fitted aux on Astra Mk5 by connecting the aux cable pins in to the connector block. Is it the same procedure for this car??

Can someone provide a link of the cable I need??

Would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

Try ebay item 201162109859 or similar, take the plug off and insert the pins into the corresponding holes in the blue cd changer plug at the back of the unit. Or if you want oem part search 5j0 035 475.
