New clutch and Duel mass when Remapped ?

Featured Replies

So my flywheel is on its way out. And booked my car to be remapped on the 14th of February.

Whilst I'm replacing the flywheel I will obviously replace the clutch. But is it worth putting an uprated clutch in due to the extra horsepower and torque ? If so, what's clutch kits are recommended, always been a fan of Sachs but not sure if they do uprated ones.

The car is standard engine wise other than miltek turbo back. And soon to be EGR deleted.

Thanks

If your only planning a basic remap power wise then a standard clutch and DMF will be fine, however if you can afford an upgrade it is always a good option as it will save you having to do it again should you want to push the boundaries further regrading power output.

Loads of options on here...

Unless your planning on fitting a GTB and going high bhp and doing a lot of launching etc don't fit a single mass flywheel set up.

Agree. Stick to DMF and if you can a Sachs uprated clutch.

Dmf is fine to about 220-240hp i think so stick with it, plus imo single mass makes car sound like a tractor lol.

If you changing clutch you might aswell upgrade it should last longer if its designed to take more power and its not being used to its full potential.

Near enough double the cost though a uprated Sachs compared to a standard one.

Id go for a sachs race engineering organic clutch and new dmf

Gives you security and the option of upping the power in the future

Retains driveability and no nasty rattles at idle.

Or if you fancy going wild in the future id opt for a helix organic / paddle with smf.

I wouldnt consider a standard clutch at remapped power. I blew a stock clutch at 33k miles with a remap but then i like to drive a car how it should be ( not fearfull of the clutch )

Ok thanks for help. The price of the performance Sachs clutch is a lot of money. I'm more than likely going to buy the standard Sachs clutch and dmf Kit.

Save up its well worth it :)

Helix uprated clutch might be worth a look, couple hundred cheaper than Sachs.

/\ plus it looks cool

Standard clutch can slip even with a limited remap. Ultimately depends on how you drive it. I became a lazy torque monster and "found" clutch slip in 5th/6th on the motorway. :)

With the turbo back IMO, there is a better chance of boost/torque spikes unless well mapped. Would be better to at least fit an uprated organic clutch.

Are Sachs the best quality DMF?

And what make is OEM DMF?

OEM is Sachs.

OEM is Sachs.

Cheers john :)

In the early days Sachs use to state the torque limit which if I remember right was 280lbst for both DMF and clutch.
