rear wash wipe not washing!

Featured Replies

My rear wash wipe is wiping, but has ceased washing. I've tried poking the jets with a pin, to no avail (I've not seen screen wash leaking anywhere).

The rear wiper has also taken to stopping randomly (not in the park position), so wonder if the 2 are linked?

Car is booked in for investigation next week and I'll report back with the findings.

Had similar failures with Fabia's; a pipe connector popped in the rear of a Fabia I due to freezing and filled the rear nearside footwell under the carpet.

Likewise the Fabia II failure we traced to a split pipe under the battery tray which had to all come out :S

I had that happen on a fabia as well every time it was freezing the connecter would pop off.  Was a 5 minute job for the garage to sort.

The wiper stopping randomly on the screen is the anomoly here. I'd guess this and the lack of screenwash are connected.

Can you hear the pump working when activating the rear wash? It's best to stand next to the car and lean in through the window to hear it.

Or better still as you've said as its under warranty let the local dealer sort it!

I can hear the motor working, so presumably the connection has come adrift somewhere between the front and back.

I remember that in some cars, when the washing fluid is low, the rear wiper stops washing before the front wipers as an extra reminder to refill.

Could that be this case?

The reservoir is full to the brim.

The report from the garage was blocked nozzles!

I did give them an exploratory poke with a pin, but the Skoda workshop pin must be in some way better suited to the job

The service desk did enquire if I used genuine screenwash, but then let me off the hook as I bought a bottle last week!

The rear wiper still stops randomly, but predictably behaved impeccably when in the garage.

The rear wiper can stop an inch above the park position.

Or are you saying it stops at any point along the normal sweep?

The reason for the changing park position (assuming it is close to the normal position) is to prolong the life of the wiper blade.

I'm now slightly worried having read this thread.

I had a problem a few nights ago where the rear wiper washer stopped working. I assumed it had frozen up mid journey (it was very cold), and in my stupidity pressed the wiper stalk several times to get it going again. It did eventually get going (first a trickle before getting back to more-or-less normal.

Never occurred to me that there would be a join in the rear washer pipe inside the car under the carpet (and IMHO, it is a dumb design move). How certain are we that there's a join under the carpet like the Fabia? I'm worried I may have compromised the join partially with thr pressure build up from my over pumping while frozen.

So if I ever have an engine running issue, where can I buy Genuine Skoda diesel? lol

What has genuine screen wash got to do with it, although I have noticed that some screen washes state clearly "suitable for fan sprays" or similar, does that mean, by default, that some are unsuitable?

Sorry for the slight hijack, but I didn't think it was that important to start a new thread, but on my FL yeti, when you press rear wash, it takes several seconds for the flow to start.

So, is this a feature, with no non return valve so the wash water returns to the pump, so can't freeze in winter? if so great idea...

Or is it a fault with the non return valve which is allowing the fluid to return to the pump.? Ohh need to get it sorted lol.

Just wondered, not worried about it, but what is standard?

All the same symptoms as the MK2 Octavia [emoji57]

Nothing changes.

That is interesting to know, as on my Spaceback it is the other way around. My rear wiper sprays immediately, but my front wipers take a second or two to start flowing.
