New Fabia owner saying hello

Featured Replies

Greetings all,

Have found this forum after the better half and I acquired an 01/51 Fabia 1.4 16v Comfort hatchback for her this weekend to replace an 11-year old 141k mile Golf 1.4, which was on it's last legs.

She wanted another Golf, I didn't want to pay the premium, so we compromised...her mum having a similar-age 8v Fabia that she was driving around in last week when the Golf had it's final tantrum on the cooling system front swung the argument.

Anyhow, great car and really good value, ours has just 24k on the clock and is a nice bright blue colour. I don't drive a Skoda myself (boo! etc) but had a Fabia 16v auto for a week a few months back when someone removed the back bumper from my Honda Accord while parked...all I will say is the difference between a 75bhp auto and 100bhp in the manual 1.4 16v is pretty marked! Also, we're loving the trip computer, shades of the old Golf GTIs there.

Will be making my presence felt in the tech forum shortly, as although the previous owner got the 'check engine' light sorted out as a condition of sale, it's come on again just a day after it was fixed by the dealer - we've not even done 100 miles yet! Hopefully not indicative of imminent expense...

Cheers

Richard
