Short Shifter 5 speed VAG

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Hopeing to tap into the wealth of machanical knowledge on Briskoda. I've come across this short shifter which says it will work on the Mk6 Golf 5 speed gear box which I belleive is the gearbox I have?

This would be a a great little mod if it fits: http://www.dieselgeek.com/MK5_5_Speed_VW_Short_Shifter_p/ss-mk5-mk6sigma5.htm

Cant just figure out what that does off the link.

Is it like a quickshifter on a bike? Cuts the power momentarily so you can shift without the use of a clutch?

Basically reduces the throw of the gear changes so they're nearer together and therefore quicker

What Toxicvrs said, shortens the gear shift allowing for faster gear change.

Ooh right. I see.

I think my idea was better ahaha (:

I have one on my blue Yeti.

I don't like it.

It may reduce the length of the throw, but it also makes it a little trickier to make sure you're 100% in gear because there is less movement of the gearstick.

Not sure saving 0.1 second per gear change is worth it myself.

Got in there first again ;)
