Creaking Seat - cured!

Featured Replies

There have been a few threads about creaking noises from the driver's seat on the Furby vRS. Mine was making what I thought was a creaking noise under heavy cornering. Dealer was good and first lubricated, then replaced the seat sub-frame to no avail. I've now discovered the noise only sounded like it was coming from the seat. In fact, it was a creak from the reinforcing bar that runs behind the dashbord, flexing under cornering loads! The noise must have been reflected down into the footwell and sounded like the seat base.

I found I could reproduce the noise by pulling down sharply on the steering wheel. I cured it by a removing the end cover panel off the dashboard and squirting a short spray of WD40 over the end of the cross beam visible through the panel. Bliss!

Just mention this in case others with incurable seat creaks might find it ain't the seat at all...

and WD 40 now drips onto your best suit trousers !! :orb_lol:

Damn i have a creaky seat dealer is going to look at it in 3 weeks at its service... says it might be something to do with the lumbar adjuster clips, I say the bloody seats need changing altogether...
