^^ What he said!

Though once I got the hybrid fitted and tuned and started making 295lb/ft of torque the VR6 clutch started slipping. Had to take it to a specialist and get it strengthened.

You are local to me. Pop up at the weekend and have a go in mine. It goes fairly well !

What diff?

Just posted this in another thread:

I have a Wavetrac LSD in my Octy. It's an excellent upgrade from stock. Not cheap once fitting is factored in as well, but it changes the way the car accelerates and corners. It now pulls around corners in a way it never did, doesn't have that bogging down understeery feeling exiting roundabouts. Grip is so much better. I'm running about 265bhp and 300lbft and no longer have traction issues off the line, unless I drive like a complete tool or it's so wet that both wheels spin. Plus I tried flooring it from standstill with one wheel on gravel, and it just went, no slipping.

LSDs are awesome!

i have a lightened flywheel and clutch kit for sale if you are interested - £100 (only 3k miles on them)

also have new vr6 clutch plate for an extra £30

I've had the stage 2 set-up (228bhp at midland VW) on the car for 12 months and stage 1 for the previous 4 years, I'm still running the standard clutch that was fitted at the Skoda factory in 2003 and 133000 miles ago.

She gets driven "enthusiastically" from time to time and is used for my commute to work and back, also used to tow an 18ft car trailer with my rally car on top with no problem.

Butch didn't think the Vrs has that tow capacity for cAr trailer and load ??

Might not have the official capacity, but mine tows a 22ft long caravan weighing 1350kg without any problems  - And it's stable  at motorway towing speeds (unlike many cars I have owned previously)

Maximum towing weight for Mk1 octy VRS is 1200 kg. Above that weight and insurance is invalid.

Shocked at how low that is, my Clio is rated for 1100

However I still stand by my recommendation of G60 flywheel VR6 clutch and Wavetrac diff for a Stage 2 VRS. After all that's what the OP was about.

Towing Capacity for Skoda OCTAVIA 1.8 T RS

Year Kerbweight (Kg) 85% (Kg) Towing Capacity (Kg) Towing Capacity (Lbs)

2006 1280 1088 1200 2645

2008 1280 1088 1200 2645

This info was taken from UK Tow website and as such I can't be held responsible for any inaccuracies.

My advice if you want to Tow stuff get a Range Rover.
