Fabia 1.9 (100BHP) TDi Fuel gauge

Featured Replies

Anyone had a fuel gauge that reads as empty despite the amount of fuel in the tank? This is occuring at the same time as both interior and exterior lights are flickering and the power steering cutting out. Any ideas as only had the car 5 days! Otherwise its a great car and leaves many others standing!

Is it reading empty after brimming the tank?

What does the onboard computer say the range is when the guage reads 0, after a fill-up?

PAS cutting out sounds bad. Did you get it from a dealer with some warranty?

The onboard computer says 0 miles. I know the tank is about 7/8ths full.

I am going to have a look at the solution offered here though: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?t=34565

Yeah I've got a warranty thank god.

Power steering uses a hydro-electric pump and draws a lot of current. If the lights are flickering significantly when you steer, it would suggest that the battery is in need of replacing, or at least a good charge (especially if the car has been sat around for a while) :D An easy thing to check and rule out before heading to the dealers :D

Battery? Alternator? Dodgy connection? - DEALER

Thanks for all the advice its much appreciated and so nice to find a place to chat. This is my first Skoda and its great it goes like the clappers and apart from this problem it been a dream - I'm already thinking of saving for a VRS.

I shall try the battery and then take it to the dealer as I have checked all the related fuses and none seem corroded of blown.

Thanks again
