Vogtland Shocks and spring Kit.........

Featured Replies

Just thought Ide post up my initial thoughts on the Vogtland -40mm kit I got from DPM.

After finally getting the time to fit it all I now have them on my Fabia vRS. Ill post pictures of the stance later on but so far I love the look.

I have had JOM coilies on it a bit back which only lasted a few months as the ride was horrid and I couldn't get the back up enough, I went back to the std setup and that was a nice ride but too high off the floor.

The car is a daily driver so I am not overly bothered about modding it but the suspension was starting to knock and the rear shocks were leaking slightly and after 135k I think its all past best.

Its taken me 2 full days to do all the work and I was in the garage till nearly 2am this morning making sure its all done and torqued up right.

Jobs Ive done:

Swapped both mirrors (kno3 came onto my side of the road and smashed drivers one)

Gear linkage realign with new ends

New Fog lights(both sides)

New Xenon Headlight bulbs(Ozram night breaker unlimited)

New sidelight bulbs to match

New Lemforder Tie Rods and ends

New N/S Drive shaft(boot split on oem one so will be cleaning it up and new boot kit on it)

New Lemforder Ball joints

New Lemforder Drop Links

New Mayle Top mounts and bearings

New Lemforder Rear top mounts

New Sachs Rear Bump stops and sleeves

New Vogtland Shocks and springs

Cleaned out all arches

Gearbox oil top up/slight overfill (100ml)

Oil change (Quantum Platinum 5W40)

Well after a few hard days and night I have been to Bristol today to see Lee at FCM for the wheel alignment doing, to say I stripped it all off and sorted the new stuff by eye I got the subframe back on perfectly with only a few deg out on the toe, the car drove well going there despite being out slightly.  The ride is nice, reminds me of the feel of the E39 M5, only slightly as in its firm, but not uncomfortable.

The suspension allows you to feel more of the road while still being subtle. Its definably harder than std but not choppy or crashy, a lovely setup really and for £300 you cant complain.

I do need to pop back to get the alignment tweeked when it settles as it slightly pulls Left but not as bad as before.

You can really feel the road now and tbh it gives more feel through your seat and the steering too.

FCM are in Bristol if anyone wants a proper job doing, they do a lot of work for Redish Motorsport (BMW M3 specialists)

All in all I am very happy with the setup, the rear on side by side checks are no lower then stock, possibly only a few mm, the fronts though are 20mm lower when shock and spring are side by side and the arch gap in halved  giving a nice even gap front to rear and making the nose lower but still clears humps.

Just done 230 mile trip and on mways they are really nice. Informative feel.

On rough roads with pot holes and sharp jolting dips like crap joins in the tarmac and sunken bits where drains are and that they are very harsh. They dont absorb holes and things well. I am hoping the soften up a bit with some miles but on good roads they are brill.
