Estate load area width in Fabia 2 compared to Fabia 1

Featured Replies

Thinking of changing to a Fabia 2 estate soon. It looks as if the load area width available between the rear wheels is less in a Fabia 2 (than my Fabia 1), am I right?

I regularly transport white goods and presently for example a washing machine will fit across this area, this is why I am a bit concerned

Thanks

Maybe an idea to pop along to one of the many dealerships in your area selling Mk2 Estates and look in the rear yourself and see

if it suits your needs.

A washing machine fits in OK, and so does a Fridge Freezer, normal width ones.

When you had the test drive in the vRS estate did you not decided then if the back was large enough?

This is a fair and relatively interesting question others who like me may want to change from a 1 to 2 estate may be interested in.

I am sorry but I don't particularly appreciate basically being told to go and look at one again myself nor do I appreciate getting asked by you if I did not make up my mind months ago about this when indeed I looked at a Fabia 2 VRS a long while back. When I viewed the VRS estate was when I noticed it striking me as narrower.

If I get the chance I will go to look at another one soon, but I am in fact very very busy and struggling to find the time at the moment. My old Fabia 1 feels as if it's failing a little which is unfortunate because I require it's use so much. This is why my thoughts have returned to changing it.

That was kind so please accept my apologies.

The above answer struck me a bit like saying get off your backside and look at one rather than offering a helpful reply but I know things can be misconstrued pretty easily, so thanks for replying and I'll try to remember to post back if I can check this out properly myself.

I would be quite tempted by a VRS but feel the above when I first gathered that they can have their problems ended up putting me off one. I didn't know about the foibles quite a few seem to have suffered

My Fabia really is a little load lugger and utility vehicle so I'd be best to choose one known to be quite robust with not a lot to worry about

There are a fair few Mk2 Estates around that are not vRS and worth checking out.

I spotted a few last week in Dundee but never got a chance to stop and see which Models they were.

Some sitting at Skoda Specialist Cars & i think maybe in the Lot next to it.

Not looked at what is around the Edinburgh area, but i will look see if anything that looks good and a Bargain.

these are certainly not cheap.

EDIT,

actually, the petrol might be if they take an offer on them, New Reg coming out and all that.

Why not measure yours and then pop to one of the many dealerships in your area selling Mk2 Estates and look in the rear and measure that.

You could even take a washing machine and try it in the back. Failing that try an octavia as they are definitely bigger

I've been very very busy with work so will be struggling to find time to look at any for a few weeks. It was just a question which stuck in my mind having looked at at fabia 2. Surely Skoda wouldn't have narrowed it...!

goneoffSKi yes, thanks let me know if you spot any bargains. A 2010 1.6 CR TDi 90 in black coming up at BCA Edinburgh auction. An ex company or lease car it's done 88000 miles though. It would be a nice price however. I feel I don't want anything too pricey with the work and use it'll get.

I was only messing  :p

Seriously though, the point you made about dimensions is true, generally each incarnation tends to be bigger

Wikipedia - "Compared with the first generation the new Combi is 7 mm (0.3 in) longer, 46 mm (1.8 in) higher and the boot has grown by 54 litres (to 480 litres total)."

Hah! Ah thats interesting. Thats actually quite a bit bigger

What budget are you talking.?

I know of an Estate 61 Plate 1.2 69ps with 38,000 miles.
