Dashcam and rear view cam

Featured Replies

I would just like to ask if anyone as fitted a rear view camera and where would be the best place for it's location can it be attached to the lining because it cannot be attached to the hatch.

Any thoughts greatfully appreciated

do a yeti forum search, covered at length here!

As you're asking questions on the cameras fixing location can you explain why you've already discounted mounting it on the rear door?

Mounting on the rear door? how do I hide the cable here

EDIT: Answer even easier as per next post.

As BossFox confirms there is an ignition live supply in the rear door so no need to run any wiring back into body, dose'nt get much easier than that!

Front is wired direct to the fusebox.
Rear is wired to the ignition live on the rear wiper, saves running cable trough from the tailgate to the car.

When you mount the camera, you need it in the swept area of the rear wiper, that narrows it down a lot.

With it being on the back door, and you often need to slam it shut, you need to be sure the camera won't fall off, or change it's viewing position.

The wiper covers about an inch over the shaded area at top of rear screen so the camera can be mounted fairly high just missing the shaded area and heated screen elements.

In that position there will not be much force acting on the camera from the door closing as it's not very far from the hinge line.

I've had the rear lens of my dual camera attached to the top of the rear hatch glass for the last 3 years, in two different cars, and never had a problem.

I could recommend rear view camera on picture incorporated with the grab handle of a rear door, I bought one over web site www.aliexpress.com for some 25 euro with delivery, works perfectly for over a year.
