Brake Fluid Change with DSG

Featured Replies

I assume that since the DSG box doesn't share brake fluid like the manual box does, to change the brake fluid I just need to do all bleed it through all 4 corners?

I assume the order is NS rear, FS rear, NS front, FS front?

Yer that's right. Work from furthest away to closest of the servo

Correct!

Make sure you use a pressure bleeder and not the brake pedal.

There's also a nipple on the side of the reservoir- which thinking about it I forgot to do when I did my fluid!

No. That's only required for a dry fill (like when replacing the pump).

Hmmm. Interesting!

I've I get some free time over the weekend I'll give it a go and see what happens.

Did you get any time to look at this Phil?

Once I've sorted my steering/ABS sensor issues, this is next on my list.

Unfortunately not.

My weekend consisted of unpacking from holiday, tidying the bomb site that was once our house, wedding, hangover, laying on the sofa and then eating cheese and drinking wine!

I'm pretty sure I will have time on Sunday to do it.

Definitely sounds more fun than changing brake fluid. :)

Did you ever get around to doing this Phil?

Now I have my abs issue sorted, brake fluid flush is back on my list to do soon.

Not had chance lately.

Been on holiday, going away again to Germany tonight and also got this mess to sort out now (thanks Mr Polish lorry driver!):

Ouch! I hope you caught it on dashcam?

He was behind us so didn't catch the actual impact on cam but it does show that it wasn't us that swerved into him at least.

Hopefully we'll get it sorted soon after we get back from Germany (already reported and claim going through).

So I changed my fluid today. Didn't bother with the abs as I was short of time.

What a pain to get a spanner on the rear nipples to undo them. The suspension and handbrake mechanism is completely in the way!
