Fabia Estate boot not latching

Featured Replies

:(

Third booking into the dealership in under 3 months, and again I've got to wait 2 weeks for a Saturday appointment.

I'm starting to wish I'd bought something else.

I had this 'problem' for ages, then I realised I was closing the rear hatch I pulled it down to almost shut then I noticed I was holding the hatch by the catch (wheeeyy!!) when closing it making it bounce open again.

I'd spent a month slamming it shut from eye level (which worked) before I realised ... d'oh!

I feel really stupid now.

The sales chap had told me that the only way to open the boot was with the keyfob remote thing. I'd been holding the catch - not feeling that anything was there because of the rubber cover - and therefore it hadn't been latching.

I'm just going to hide under a rock somewhere. :(

(thanks! )

Ahhh but the remote is so usefull when aproaching the car with armfulls of shopping that SWMBO has thoughtfully pilled upon you lol. :D

The remote is great, and if it really was the only way to open the boot I would not be unhappy. It's just that I had no idea that the grip could open it too, and now I have to cancel the service booking and look like a total duffer!

Well

I was fortunate in that my dealer showed me that when showing me all the features of my car when I picked it up (even down to the on/off switch on the can cooler compartment  ). In fact I've never before had anyone go through how everything works when picking up a car. Very usefull even if I was just dying to get the key and go play with my new toy :P

BTW what happened about the rear window heater switch?

It was a bit intermittent; one day it'd work fine, the next it'd stick again. I came to the conclusion that most likely it'd work perfectly when I took it in, so I cancelled the appointment and will have them look at it at the first service - it wasn't worth losing 2 hours of a Saturday when in all likelihood they'd not even see the problem. That's the big problem; I work a long way from the dealer so I can't pop the car in except at weekends, and that means waiting 2 weeks for a slot and then losing 2 hours or more of my Saturday. :(

Well don't know if it is the same problem as yours but I find mine sticks when the car is cold first thing in the morning, but as soon as it has warmed up it's fine. Like you say not big enough of a problem to go to the dealer with on it's own and I'm planning to mention it come the first service.

That sounds like mine - it'll turn on and off, but sometimes takes a few prods to get the button to pop back out to its normal position.

Unfortunately there isn't a dealer near work that I could drop it into for that sort of little thing. Ah well.
