Adaptive Headlights - Travel mode, Left or Right side traffic

Featured Replies

Just 'playing' and looking at the settings and noticed that the travel mode for my AFS is set to Left side traffic (UK, so we drive on the left). It sounds right but my brain keeps thinking 'left side traffic' means the traffic coming towards you hence so you don't blind them should it be set to 'Right' - to much over thinking I think!!?

It is correct - Left side traffic is what you need it set to driving on the left. I went through the same 'problem' when going over to France last year as I don't think it's particularly well worded. Something along the lines of "Driving on the left/Driving on the right" would have been better. When you stick it in the Right side traffic mode it will actually warn you everytime you start to alert you to the fact it is still set which mean's the car must know it is a UK based car. If you have sat nav I believe it automatically switches the lights.

Easy way to confirm things is just turn the lights on at night and look to see where the light is pointing before you set off.

Thanks James, yeah I think the Columbus would recognise if I go abroad.

It does basically says in the manual in convoluted terms that if you change the side to other (presumably non-native) side then the headlight side swivel is deactivated - its always worked in the current setting, so from this I assume its always been correct.

I wonder why though? There shouldn't be any technical reasons for it (that I can think of anyway).
