Octavia scout drivers seat issue

Featured Replies

Anybody had issues with their drivers seat and airbag module?

Mine sticks out on drivers side, certainly not right compared to passenger side.

There is a TSB or TPI or whatever Skoda chooses to call them, for seat foam distortion/airbag retainer breaking. Had mine replaced under warranty.

I have just noticed the same on mine after having just cleaned the interior.

My warranty is up soon, so I will see what skoda say, as they already refused warranty repair on worn drivers seat!

just had a chat with dealer and he says this is wear and tear?

will be taking in for him to look at later

It is hard to tell how bad yours is from the pictures.

Our 2008 Scout looks to be the same, it can easily be felt through the seat fabric.

Been like it since new.

It is hard to see I pictures, but I don't think the passenger side should differ from the drivers side. The passenger side is nice and flat , drivers side you can see the bloody airbag buldging out side, certainly ain't right

I did notice this too on mine, the passenger side is perfect.

The drivers side, although not bulging out, is protruding slightly and is very easy to feel when hoovering the car etc.

It hasn't got worse over time so it isn't wear and tear.

Sounds like yours is worse than mine.

well. my dealer had a look and immediately said foam has collapsed, which, to me does not look that bad, but he said also wear and tear with 58k on clock. No way will this be done under warranty

I have vented my frustration on Skoda UK facebook page!

I could understand wear and tear if fabric worn, but at 58k it not even past the 60k warranty mark. Load of *******s, I have got mine registered with Skoda UK also and will see what happens. I have to say I had a passat with 235k on the clock and never had any issues with the seats!!!

To be fair, the bolster does not look too bad, I'm sure it has been like that for some time now. What is more concerning is the lump sticking out the side, the airbag, which I am not sure will work as intended as it may not be in the correct place?

Skoda UK have contacted me after reading my comments on facebook, so we shall see what happens. I am seriously considering small claims court if they refuse to do anything about it.

Actually I may try another dealer as I an near on tmrw in Medway...

Anybody had an update from Skoda? I had a voice mail saying they are still looking into it

pictures and report went today, plus another compliant

The outer bolster/airbag retainer affects all mk2's particularly vRS.

The bolster moves around on the frame and eventually gives out. Being careful when getting in and out extends its life.

Sounds like they are not fit for purpose full stop. That's pretty shocking as seat testing is very intensive, probably some cheap Chinese manufacturing facility.

Any body done a diy repair on them?
