Fabia 1.2 petrol AZQ engine 2003

At speed of 50 to 60 mph the car momentarily looses power.  when I accelerate it responds but not immediately.  This can also happen at lower speeds but is not so frequent.  New NGK plugs correctly gapped fitted.  There is no real pattern as to when this happens.  It just feels like the engine is missing a beat.

Anyone any ideas what could be causing this?  Keen to get it sorted before it fails on me in the middle of busy traffic - that's where all my cars choose to stop working.

We Superb owners would feel significant power loss if we had 1.2's in 'em.

 

Might be an idea to ask in the Fabia owners sub-forum.  And perhaps get it diagnostically scanned for fault codes.
