HELP, Suspension problem.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just taken our Fabia 1.4 16v (51 reg) in for it's MOT. Failed due to cracked bushes on the front suspension.

It's only done 25,000 and our mechanic says that there is no way these should have deteriorated so soon. He went in to the local dealership and, whilst he was waiting, heard one of the service guys ringing a customer to bring his in, under warranty, for exactly the same problem. Our warranty ran out last year and now the dealers are saying that this is just "one of those things".

Has anyone else heard of this being a problem?

Very disappointed at the dealers attitude because, up til now, i've been really happy with our "furby" and raving to everyone about how good they are.

This has left a bit of a bitter taste as, although the bushes only cost

Mine went through last MOT with cracked bushes as an advisory - obviously weren't that shot. Perhaps they deteriorate over time, not use - as I see yours has been on the road for 4 years despite its low mileage. Mine had done 60,000 when its last MOT came about.

I've sorted the problem now, whilst fitting the entire vRS subframe setup, brand new. :o

Edit: As its not a VAG electronic type thing - I say buy the bushes and get a backwater garage to fit, especially if you're warranty has run out. I've not been back to mine since it expired, just to buy parts and get the odd bit of advice.

Labour time is about right mind you, them bushes are a propper pig to change. and tooling to do it isnt cheap either.
