Killed another BCM! Advice please?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I had an issue with my Octy where the Drivers front indicator was stuck on. Info from this forum led me to the BCM unit. Mine was numbered 1K0 937 087 D so i sourced one from Ebay with he same number and fitted it. I couldn't get the DRLs working so I took it to my local VW dealer and they sorted it for £40.

Now a month later the passenger side indicator is stuck on! Well miffed that I'm going to have to splash out more cash to fix it again.

Does anyone know if I can use a later BCM model such as a 1K0 937 087 AL?

My thinking being that it's an updated part that may be more reliable. I'll probably replace it myself and then take it to the dealer for coding again

What year is your vRS.

2010 models seem to suffer the most with the BCM failures.

Do you have an aftermarket HID headlight kit fitted?

I wouldn't rule out a financial contribution from Skoda UK. Even though your car might be out of warranty these failures are common and well documented. Skoda have been known to cover items on cars up to 5 years old.

Hi

It's a 59 plate and i think it was first registered Jan 2010.

Yes I have a Londoncolour kit so i was thinking that may be responsible for the failures. I'm going to remove it i think

It might just be coincidence but there have been at least three threads recently where the non-CANBUS HID kit's have caused the exact same issue as you've experienced on 2010 Octavia's.

This is despite the non-CANBUS kits (fitted and then having the car correctly coded) being better for the BCM than the CANBUS-friendly kits.
