Service regime

Featured Replies

I know this has been discussed before but the search facility hasn't turned the information up in the short time I have available just now and there doesn't seem to be a thread about it in the technical section, so I'm hoping that some kind soul will be able to answer these questions for me with minimal effort ie based on the knowledge in their head:

1) Is there any indication eg on the Maxidot, or perhaps via an OBD device, which service regime the car is set to?

2) Is it possible to change the service regime yourself (without using VCDS), or is it a dealer job?

2) If it's set to fixed servicing, is the Maxidot status display is simple miles/date countdown, with no allowance made for type of vehicle usage?

Thanks

1/ On early cars, if the oil temp could be displayed the car was on "variable", but i believe that might have now changed, so possibly no.

2/ No.

3/ Don't know and haven't checked; mine has just been changed from "variable" to "fixed".

No help at all, I'm sure, but -

Mine shows oil temp (thank goodness), but is on fixed service period.

Also shows miles/days to next service.

I've no idea what would substitute that info if it were on variable.

Look on the sticker in your service book or in the car boot. Looking at all the groups of numbers and letters look at the third row. If it says Q16 it's on variable. If it says Q11, 12, 13 or 14 it is on fixed.

That only applies to when it left the factory.

Mine shows it is on "variable" but is NOW on "fixed".

At about 1 month and 1000 ish miles mine shows this.
