Newbie question :D

Featured Replies

Hi guys, top forum, makes me glad to be part of the skoda fold!

Now, working on the basis that everyone's allowed one dumbass question they should have used search for.. :D here's mine:

1) What kind of bhp/torque increase do you get with

-the cupra intake pipe on it's own? (the one from the pd160 as far as i can tell is the right one..)

-the cupra pipe and green filter together?

Does the engine run rough/lean if you do one or both of these mods without getting a remap? I plan to get the remap eventually, but don't want to have the engine overheat from running lean in the meantime.

2) What's the warranty effects of the above two mods without a remap?

I found lots of stuff in search about remap effects etc but couldn't figure out the above stuff. I muck about with bikes a fair bit and am a bit wary of making it all free-er flowing without remapping to suit.

Cheers!

1) From what others have said it gives about 3 to 4 bhp more. The main benefit I have found is a longer power band before it stops pulling. Aparantly its much better when the engine is remapped.

2) As far as I am aware , none because its a VAG part (Seat) As for the green filter: PASS on that one

1) depends on the rollers that have been used anywhere from nothing upto 10bhp. Though it's more about how it drives than out right bhp.

2) Any mod "could" void your warrenty, it's down to the garage really, though to be fair I'm guessing in most cases they may not notice.

It's not a Skoda part though ... I believe your warranty statement says any non-Skoda part will void your warranty. Could be wrong through. Green filter will definitely void it, but whether they would notice (if you told them you'd replaced it yourself prior to a service) is another matter ;)

Chris

But with how quick all these could be replaced would you be better to change them before a warranty check?

Sarah

Not that I am telling you to do it ;)
