Black 18" Neptune part codes

Featured Replies

Hello,

Looking for a bit of info on the 18" Black Neptune wheel that comes as standard on the Black line edition.

2012 Octavia VRS

I enquired at my local dealers, Simpsons Skoda about a new wheel to use as a full size spare as I don't want a steel spare limited to 50 mph.

They took my registration numberdand came back with the following part number 1Z0601025JJX2 price £282

Horton Skoda are offering on their website a black 18" Neptune for the 09 -13 Octavia which certainly looks the same for £178.50 but the part number is 1Z0071498A

Is this the same wheel and if so why the different part number ?

Thanks

Yes, wheel should be the same. Skoda sell it as a replacement part for the Blackline and also as an accessory item. There are two different part numbers and two different prices. I did what you want to do and bought one from my local dealer to use as a spare (all be it that my vRS has the silver wheels). But the black wheel as an accessory is about £100 cheaper, as you've identified. I can confirm the part number I used as 1Z0 071 498A.

Thanks for the info.

I have just discovered the same anomaly with the price of a 17" Origami alloy for my new Yeti. The OEM Origamis fitted have the PN 5L0601025L8Z8 and retail at £273. However the Origami is also listed in the Accessories section of the official Skoda parts list as PN 5L0071497L8Z8 which retails at £176. My local TPS were unable to explain why there were 2 different PNs for the same wheel but Sandicliffe Skoda, who advertise the latter wheel on eBay, explained that it comes from a different factory to the OEM one. So it is an official Skoda part with the standard 2 year warranty but is manufactured more cheaply than the alloys fitted on the production line. I wonder what the country of manufacture is...
